Jacob Moore is your average teenager, except he is in love with his best friend, Drew Jonas. Drew doesn’t know. Well, that is until Jacob comes out to Drew during their summer vacation.
At first, Drew seems to take it well, but then Drew suddenly gets a girlfriend, Belle Blackie. Jacob is completely devastated. But that’s not the worst of it. When school begins, every student at the high school, and even the faculty, know about Jacob’s feeling for Drew.
Jacob is bullied by cruel teenages in gym class, in the hallways, and even in the café. Students he doesn’t even know call him names and spread rumors about him. People he used to be friendly with unexpectedly become mean and uninviting.
Then along comes Eli Gordon, a new student at the high school. He literally knocks Jacob off his feet. To make up for the accident, Eli asks Jacob out on a date. To which Jacob replies with an earnest yes. Eli takes Jacob out on his first date, gives Jacob his first kiss, and drags him headfirst into his first romance.

A great read, and first book, by a promising new author!Edward develops his characters well and has a very authentic voice. There are plenty of family dynamics, school relationships and conflict within and between characters to keep the reader interested in this first love / coming of age story.
One of the things I particularly liked was the balance the author used for reactions to a gay character, both in families and in the school. They weren't all negative and they weren't all positive. Jake had many friends, from both sexes, that fully supported his boyfriend(s) and him, even to the point of some (OMG) kissing action.
A couple of times I did have to step back and wonder at how seemingly clueless Jake was in the "below the belt" department for an older teen gay boy, but that made for an easy exclusion of those awkward pawing scenes so prevalent in many coming out and male romance stories. The love scenes are tame, but the feelings seem sincere.
Jake's family dynamics and the inevitable conflict therein are realistically developed without leaning too much on the absent father / over involved mother stereotype either. His younger sister, and confidant in all things "Drewish", has a very sophisticated philosophy, but sometimes adults simply over-think the obvious.

Fearless edition by Edward Jakab Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Edward, I liked this book, especially knowing that it was partially based on your life. Unfortunately it was just so unrealistic! Drew was a gigantic jerk who did not deserve Jacob. And Eli was the sweetest guy ever and did not deserve Jacob's dishonesty.. I honestly wish there was a HEA for Eli. He deserves it.
I want to say I like books with happy endings but this was utter ridiculousness. Fist off, Jake came out to Drew and told him loved him and not to tell and what did Drew do he basically outed him, he made fun of him called him names, flaunted his relationship with belle in Jake's face. And completely crushed him. Then Jake meets Eli and starts dating him Eli is everything Jake really wants and needs and Jake says he loves him but to easily threw him away for the smallest inkling of Drew. And when Drew finally tells Jake he loves him to but is to scared of losing his friends, his scholarships, his father, and things such as. All I could think was about how Drew was the one that made Jake lose all of those things and was now begging him not to let that happen to him. Even though Drew was a total jerk to Jake. So they say good bye only to meet up a year later at Drews wedding to then ride off into the sunset together. What! Drew put him threw hell and Jake let him do it and then magically all is forgiven like there was a button that just erased it all. Umm, no not buying it. If you like books like that then this is for you but if your like me and I love happy endings but believe you should at least work and try for it. Then I strongly do not recommend this at all.
Amazingly well written and insightful into the psyche of a teenager who faces the many pitfalls of high school love, life and acceptance
It really was a good coming out story, however I feel like Jake was to weak and needy and I wanted to shake him senseless through most of the story. He had a good thing with Eli and I felt like he should have moved on from Drew when Drew treated him like dirt. He really didn't deserve Eli and I feel like he should have ended up alone for the way he treated him. I wish he was a stronger person and made the right decision from the beginning and moved on from Drew
